3 unique activities in Cape Town (that no one has ever heard of!)

Yes, when in Cape Town, you go to the beach and to the vineyards. Obviously! But there are some other pretty amazing activities that you can do too. Here are three fun things to do that you might never have expected to find in the Mother City!

1. Snorkeling with Seals 
Ready for playtime? One of the best activities is surely heading out to Hout Bay for a unique experience. Snorkeling with seals definitely is one of the most fun activities in Cape Town. The seals (there are over 10,000 of them!) glide over to play with you, blow bubbles in your face, and swim all around. Ok ok, we have to be honest: they are a little bit smelly, but the cuteness overload makes up for it. You can stay in the water as long as you want. With a wet suit on (you’ll be provided with one; and you DO need it, cause the Cape Town waters are cold) one hour at least, is pretty doable. And did we mention that it’s SO much fun?!

2. Gospel tour 
A gospel tour? Yes, why not?! Try something out of the ordinary. The church and gospel are definitely a big part of South African culture and society. And if you like music and dancing, this vibrant tour is not to be missed. The Lord is praised in uplifting and contagious ways – try to sit still! This is a variation on the ‘regular’ Township Tours that agencies offer. And one of the most lively activities you can take part in. So, wear your Sunday best and boogie your way through the service, all while your sins are forgiven.

3. Driving around in a World War II motorcycle sidecar 
There aren’t many activities that top this! Cruising around in a vintage motorcycle sidecar (which actually survived World War II!) is So. Much. Fun. You are treated like royalty; choosing the route you want to take: through vineyards, a return trip to Cape Point, or – our fave option – a crazy stunning trip along the coastline. All the way to the panoramic Chapman’s Peak and back. This 15 km long stretch called, ‘Chappie’s drive’ is proclaimed to be one of the most scenic routes in the world (and no, we are not exaggerating!), so hop aboard and have your camera at the ready.
